Archdiocese suspends application for rehabilitation of single storey dwelling

The Archdiocese of Malta has suspended an application to rehabilitate an abandoned property in Rabat in order to clarify issues highlighted by the Environment and Resources Authority (ERA) which were the subject of misleading reports in the media.

The application submitted by the Archdiocese proposes to make habitable an existing single-storey dwelling repossessed from squatters and also to remedy illegalities effected by them on the site, which is located immediately adjacent to a large third-party property and in close proximity to other structures… Read more »

Presentation of the Lord – Feast

Readings of the day

First Reading: Mal 3:1-4
Psalm: 23:7-10

Gospel: Lq 2:22-40

When the days were completed for their purification according to the law of Moses, Mary and Joseph took Jesus up to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord, just as it is written in the law of the Lord, “Every male that opens the womb shall be consecrated to the Lord,” and to offer the sacrifice of “a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons,” in accordance with the dictate in the law of the Lord… Read more »

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Dan ir-rakkont mill-Evanġelju ta’ San Mark m’għandux bżonn ħafna kummenti. Naraw ’l Ġesù li għat-talba ħerqana ta’ missier, jitlaq kollox u jmur ma’ Ġajru biex ifejjaqlu lit-tifla li sadattant tmut. U Ġesù jagħmel l-ewwel miraklu li jqajjem lil xi ħadd mill-mewt. Waqt il-vjaġġ ikun hemm mara li kienet ilha tbati mit-tnixxija tad-demm għal 12-il sena u tfiq malli messet il-mantar ta’ Ġesù… Read more »

Mass on the Day for Consecrated Life

  Shrine of Divine Mercy, Naxxar

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Minnufih jidħol fit-tempju tiegħu, is-Sid li intom qegħdin tfittxu” (Mal 3:1). Ejjew nieqfu ftit fuq din l-espressjoni tal-Profeta Malakija u nistaqsu lilna nfusna: il-Mulej li llum, fl-40 jum wara t-twelid tiegħu u li skont il-Liġi ta’ Mosè jiġi ppreżentat fit-tempju ta’ Ġerusalemm; aħna qegħdin infittxuh? Jiġi f’moħħna s-Salm 27 “Ejja, għedt f’qalbi, ‘fittex ’il wiċċu’, jien wiċċek infittex, Mulej” (Salm 27:8)… Read more »
