Mass in the memorial of St Bernardine of Siena

  The Archbishop's Seminary, Tal-Virtù

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Din is-silta mill-Evanġelju hi meħuda minn Ħamis partikolari fil-ħajja ta’ Ġesù, l-aħħar wieħed li għex fostna jiekol u jixrob magħna qabel il-qawmien tiegħu mill-imwiet, il-jum għażiż li aħna nsejħulu Ħamis ix-Xirka, lejlet il-Ġimgħa l-Kbira. Dakinhar Ġesù għamel l-aħħar ikla tiegħu mad-dixxipli mbagħad fetaħ qalbu magħhom, beda jitkellem. L-Evanġelju ta’ San Ġwann jagħtina diskors pjuttost twil li jgħid Ġesù f’dan il-mument tassew għażiż għalih… Read more »

Pope during General Audience: distractions, time of barrenness, sloth

  The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

Continuing in the line of the Catechism, in this catechesis we refer to the lived experience of prayer, trying to show some very common difficulties, which must be identified and overcome. Praying is not easy: many difficulties present themselves in prayer. It is necessary to know them, recognise them and overcome them… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 20th May

Readings of the day

First Reading: Acts 22, 30; 23, 6-11
Psalm: 15 (16), 1-2a & 5.7-8.9-10.11

Gospel: Jn 17, 20-26

Lifting up his eyes to heaven, Jesus prayed saying: “I ask not only on behalf of these, but also on behalf of those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one. As you, Father, are in me and I am in you, may they also be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me. The glory that you have given me I have given them, so that they may be one, as we are one, I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.

Father, I desire that those also, whom you have given me, may be with me where I am, to see my glory, which you have given me because you loved me before the foundation of the world. “Righteous Father, the world does not know you, but I know you; and these know that you have sent me. I made your name known to them, and I will make it known, so that the love with which you have loved me may be in them, and I in them.”

Mass on the 800th anniversary of St Dominic's death

The Church of the Annunciation, Birgu

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

L-Evanġelju li għadna kemm smajna jagħtina r-rakkont tal-aħħar tislima ta’ Ġesù lid-dixxipli tiegħu. Il-laqgħa ta’ dawn id-dixxipli kienet laqgħa ftit imħallta. Kif rawh, jgħidilna l-kapitlu 28 ta’ San Mattew, “inxteħtu quddiemu” (Mt 28:9) għalkemm xi wħud iddubitaw. Hi sitwazzjoni attwali ħafna.

Fil-laqgħa tagħna ma’ Ġesù fiċ-ċirkustanzi tal-ħajja mhux bilfors nagħrfuh mill-ewwel għaliex l-Irxoxt jiltaqa’ magħna fil-proxxmu tagħna. Ħafna drabi jkun mgħotti bi star, mgħotti b’ċirkustanzi li jġagħluna niddubutaw… Read more »

I’m not alone – Bishop Galea-Curmi

  The Archbishop's Seminary, Tal-Virtù

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Hemm żewġ affarijiet li jgħid Ġesù fl-Evanġelju llum li jistgħu jkunu ta’ għajnuna kbira għall-ħajja tagħna. L-ewwel ħaġa li jgħid Ġesù hi “waħdi m’iniex għax il-Missier hu miegħi”. U jgħid ukoll: “agħmlu l-qalb, jiena rbaħt id-dinja”.

Meta Ġesù jgħid “waħdi m’iniex għax il-Missier hu miegħi” kien qed ikellem lid-dixxipli tiegħu li ftit iktar tard kienu fil-fatt se jħalluh waħdu… Read more »
