The kingdom of God is a silent process – The Archbishop

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Ġesù qed jipprova jispjega l-ġid kif isir, is-saltna ta’ Alla kif tikber. Iż-żewġ tixbihat li jagħtina. huma tixbihat li minn bidu ċkejken iwasslu għal xi ħaġa ferm ikbar.

L-ewwel ħaġa li jgħallimna hi li s-saltna ta’ Alla mhix li tfaqqa’ subgħajk u tiġi mill-ewwel; hi proċess, proċess li jdum, proċess fis-silenzju, proċess li jrid il-paċenzja. Ħu ż-żerriegħa. Min ipprova jiżra’ xi żerriegħa jaf mhux kollha tinbet… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 26th October

Readings of the day

First Reading: Rom 8: 18-25
Psalm: 125 (126): 1-2ab.2cd-3.4-5.6

Gospel: Lk 13: 18-21

In those days, Jesus said: “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what should I compare it? It is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in the garden; it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.”

And again he said, “To what should I compare the kingdom of God? It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.” Read more »

God wants us to protect life and health – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

“B’saħna fuqu”. Dan hu l-kliem li juża l-Evanġelju llum biex jiddeskrivi r-rabja li kellu l-kap tas-sinagoga għax Ġesù kien fejjaq dik il-mara li kienet ilha tmintax-il sena sħaħ marida, u kienet milwija ħafna minħabba l-marda, u għamel dan f’Jum is-Sibt. U l-kap tas-sinagoga mhux lil Ġesù qal, imma lin-nies: hemm sitt ijiem li fihom intom taħdmu, u f’dawk il-jiem ejjew biex titfejqu, mhux f’Jum is-Sibt… Read more »

Pope at Angelus: We must put an end to the return of migrants to unsafe countries

  The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, buongiorno!

The Gospel of today’s Liturgy tells of Jesus who, when leaving Jericho, restores the sight of Bartimaeus, a blind man begging by the roadside (cf. Mk 10:46-52). It is an important encounter, the last one before the Lord’s entry into Jerusalem for the Passover. Bartimaeus had lost his sight, but not his voice! … Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 25th October

Readings of the day

First Reading: Rom 8: 12-17
Psalm: 67 (68): 2 & 4. 6-7ab. 20-21

Gospel: Lk 13: 10-17

Now Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath. And just then there appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years. She was bent over and was quite unable to stand up straight.

When Jesus saw her, he called her over and said, “Woman, you are set free from your ailment.” When he laid his hands on her, immediately she stood up straight and began praising God. But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had cured on the sabbath, kept saying to the crowd, “There are six days on which work ought to be done; come on those days and be cured, and not on the sabbath day.”

But the Lord answered him and said, “You hypocrites! … Read more »

The light of our life – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass on the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The Parish Church of the Annunciation, Ħal Balzan

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Dan ir-rakkont sabiħ tal-fejqan tal-għama fl-Evanġelju skont San Mark hu rakkont li mhux biss jgħidilna fuq il-miraklu li jagħmel Ġesù imma jgħidilna ħafna wkoll fuq il-ħajja tagħna. Nixtieq li aħna u nirriflettu fuq din il-ġrajja, naraw x’nitgħallmu mill-għama, mill-folla, u minn Ġesù.

L-għama

Ħa nħarsu lejn l-għama. Dan kien bniedem imwarrab. L-Evanġelju jenfasizza li kien “bilqiegħda mal-ġenb tat-triq”, jittallab… Read more »

What does Jesus call us to do? – The Archbishop

Mass on the World Mission Sunday

The Shrine of Our Lady of Atocia (Tas-Samra), Ħamrun

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Ġesù jmur Ġeriko. Ġeriko huwa post speċjali. L-ewwel nett l-istudjuż jgħidilna li huwa l-eqdem belt li għadha teżisti sal-lum u li fiha għadhom jgħixu n-nies. L-arkeoloġija tgħallimna li l-bniedem kien jgħix f’Ġeriko 11,000 sena qabel Ġesù. Jiġifieri 13,000 sena ilu Ġeriko kien hemm jgħixu n-nies. Ġesù jmur f’dan il-post li jaf l-istorja tal-bniedem. Huwa wkoll post fond ħafna għaliex Ġeriko hi mibnija madwar 300 pied ’l isfel mil-livell tal-baħar… Read more »
