Surmast, staff ta’ din l-iskola għażiża, studenti, mistednin, saċerdoti, jiena m’għandix ħafna xi nżid ma’ l-ewwel att ta’ dan id-dramm sabiħ imma nixtieq nirriflettu ftit fuq tagħlima importanti li jagħtuna s-Sur Tonin jew is-Sur Agius u sħabu: li l-ħajja tkun sabiħa jekk tagħmel minnha għanja ta’ ġid skont kif isejjaħlek Alla.

Pope at Audience: Believing in Jesus means following Him

  The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

In the passage from the Letter to the Galatians we have just heard, Saint Paul exhorts Christians to walk according to the Holy Spirit (cf. 5:16, 25), that is a style: to walk according to the Holy Spirit. In effect, to believe in Jesus means to follow him, to go behind him along his way, just as the first disciples did… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 3rd November

Readings of the day

First Reading: Rom 13: 8-10
Psalm: 111 (112): 1-2.4-5.9

Gospel: Lk 14, 25-33

In those days, large crowds were travelling with him; and he turned and said to them, “Whoever comes to me and does not hate father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and even life itself, cannot be my disciple. Whoever does not carry the cross and follow me cannot be my disciple.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not first sit down and estimate the cost, to see whether he has enough to complete it? Otherwise, when he has laid a foundation and is not able to finish, all who see it will begin to ridicule him, saying, “This fellow began to build and was not able to finish.’

Or what king, going out to wage war against another king, will not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand to oppose the one who comes against him with twenty thousand? If he cannot, then, while the other is still far away, he sends a delegation and asks for the terms of peace.

So therefore, none of you can become my disciple if you do not give up all your possessions.  … Read more »

“This day reminds us that the Lord will also knock on our door” – The Archbishop on All Souls’ Day

Mass on All Souls’ Day

The Church of All Souls, Ħal Tarxien

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Dan huwa l-kliem għażiż li aħna u l-għeżież tagħna li ħallewna nisimgħu minn fomm Ġesù: “Tassew ngħidlek, illum tkun miegħi fil-ġenna” (Lq 23:43).

Dan il-kliem Ġesù qalu minn fuq is-salib ftit qabel ma hu wkoll għadda mill-bieb tal-mewt. Kien mument ta’ dgħufija kbira għalih, mument ta’ kundanna, mument ta’ tbatija ħarxa. Imma quddiem it-talba tal-ħalliel, il-qalb ta’ Ġesù ma setatx ħlief tinfetaħ mimlija ħniena, mogħdrija u maħfra… Read more »
