The Archbishop to new graduates: wisdom is what marries the mind with the heart

Mass with new University graduates

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

L-għaxart irġiel morda bil-lebbra fil-komunità Lhudija ta’ 2000 sena ilu kienu kkundannati biex jgħixu ’l barra mill-komunità. Il-lebbra kienet pjaga kbira li teskludi lil dak li jkun minn kull kuntatt mill-għeżież tiegħu, mid-dinja tax-xogħol, mid-dinja soċjali.

Il-miraklu ta’ Ġesù mhuwiex biss fejqan fiżiku imma wkoll riintegrazzjoni ta’ dawn l-għaxar persuni fil-komunità. Tahom, biex ngħidu hekk il-kapaċita tat-tgħanniqa lill-maħbubin tagħhom, tat-tislima lill-ħbieb tagħhom, tad-dinjita tax-xogħol, tar-rwol tagħhom fis-soċjetà… Read more »

The Pope at Audience: Let us not grow weary

  The Vatican

Dear brothers and sisters, good morning!

We have reached the end of the catechesis on the Letter to the Galatians. We could have reflected on so much other content contained in this writing of Saint Paul! The Word of God is an inexhaustible font. And in this letter, the Apostle has spoken to us as an evangeliser, as a theologian and as a pastor… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 11th November

Readings of the day

First Reading: Wis 7, 22 – 8,1
Psalm: 118 (119), 89.90.91.130.135.175

Gospel: Lk 17, 20-25

In those days, Jesus was asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God was coming, and he answered, “The kingdom of God is not coming with things that can be observed; nor will they say, “Look, here it is!’ or “There it is!’ For, in fact, the kingdom of God is among you.”

Then he said to the disciples, “The days are coming when you will long to see one of the days of the Son of Man, and you will not see it. They will say to you, “Look there!’ or “Look here!’ Do not go, do not set off in pursuit. For as the lightning flashes and lights up the sky from one side to the other, so will the Son of Man be in his day. But first he must endure much suffering and be rejected by this generation.

The true purification of the temple purifies our faith – The Archbishop

Mass with suffrage for the souls of bishops, priests and religious who left this world

  St Paul's Cathedral, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Ġesù jagħti tifsira ġdida lill-purifikazzjoni tat-tempju. “Warrbu dawn minn hawn, u dar Missieri tagħmluhiex dar tan-negozju!” (Ġw 2:16). Ejjew nitolbu biex il-fidi tagħna ma tkunx negozjar kontinwu ma’ Alla. Inti taqlagħli grazzja u jien nagħmillek xi ħaġa, jew ngħix ħajja tajba. It-talba li qed jagħmlilna Ġesù, hi, li nintelqu f’idejn ir-rieda tiegħu u f’idejn il-ħniena tiegħu. “Ikun li trid int” (Mt 6:10); “aħfrilna dnubietna bħalma naħfru lil min hu ħati għalina” (Mt 6:12)… Read more »

Jesus is the temple through whom life-giving water flows – The Archbishop

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Meta nirrabjaw jew ilumna xi ħadd, ħafna drabi nikkwotaw dan l-inċident ta’ Ġesù. Qabżet lil Ġesù, ma taqbiżx lili? Ma taqbiżlix iċ-ċinga xi darba? U din tiġri ’l kulħadd.

Nifhmu għaliex Ġesù rrabja ħafna għax inti ma tagħmilx sawt bil-ħbula jekk m’intix irrabjat ħafna u taqleb l-imwejjed u tkeċċi l-ħamiem u l-barrin u n-nagħaġ. “Tagħmlux it-tempju tiegħi, id-dar ta’ Alla, suq” (Ġw 2:16)… Read more »

As Jesus continued his journey to Jerusalem, he travelled through Samaria and Galilee.
As he was entering a village, ten lepers met him. They stood at a distance from him
