I bring good news – Bishop Galea Curmi

Mass on the third Sunday in ordinary time

  Church of St Gregory, Żejtun

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Meta xi ħadd jiġi u jgħidilna “għandi aħbar tajba x’nagħtik”, aħna mhux biss inkunu kurjużi biex nisimgħu din l-aħbar, imma ġa jnissel fina ċertu ferħ. Ġesù, l-ewwel ħaġa li nsibu llum fl-Evanġelju skont San Mark, tkellem fuq l-Aħbar it-Tajba. Xandar l-Evanġelju ta’ Alla – ‘L-Evanġelju’ tfisser l-Aħbar it-Tajba. U lin-nies qalilhom: “Is-Saltna ta’ Alla waslet. Indmu u emmnu fl-Evanġelju”. Emmnu fl-Aħbar it-Tajba… Read more »

“Considering the crisis we are all in, one can see the frivolity of this world but also the things that are dear to us” – The Archbishop

Mass on the eve of the feast of the Conversion of St Paul

  St Paul's Cathedral, Mdina

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

Lejn tmiem is-sena li għaddiet il-Papa Franġisku, bħalma jagħmel kull sena, għamel diskors lill-kollaboraturi tiegħu membri tal-Kurja Rumana. Ta’ kull sena nistennew il-kelma tal-Papa f’din l-okkażjoni għaliex f’din l-okkażjoni jirrifletti fuq l-attwalità dak li għaddejjin minnu.

Aħna ma nistgħux ninsew li qegħdin niċċelebraw din il-festa għażiża tal-konverżjoni tal-appostlu Missierna San Pawl f’din il-pandemija. Kulħadd liebes il-maskra u kulħadd ukoll ħosbien fuq dak li se jiġrilna… Read more »

Jesus’ invitation to ‘come and see’: message by the Pope for the 55th World Communications Day

  The Vatican

Journalists reporting outside the Vatican (Vatican News)

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The invitation to “come and see”, which was part of those first moving encounters of Jesus with the disciples, is also the method for all authentic human communication. In order to tell the truth of life that becomes history (cf. Message for the 54th World Communications Day, 24 January 2020), it is necessary to move beyond the complacent attitude that we “already know” certain things… Read more »

Publius protector of human life – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass for the memorial of St Publius

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Publiju kien il-‘Protos’, bil-Grieg jiġifieri l-ewwel, il-prinċep ta’ Malta, il-mexxej. F’dan ir-rakkont mill-Atti tal-Appostli, ir-rakkont tan-nawfraġju ta’ Pawlu u sħabu hawnhekk f’Malta, Publiju joħroġ tassew b’mod sabiħ u pożittiv.

Il-ktieb tal-Atti tal-Appostli jgħid li Publiju: “laqagħna u bil-qalb kollha żammna għandu”. Bħalma għamlu wkoll il-Maltin li: “ġiebu ruħhom magħna bi ħlewwa liema bħalha” u “laqgħuna”. Qalb it-tbatija kbira tan-nawfraġju – din is-sitwazzjoni verament kerha – joħroġ dan is-sabiħ, it-tajjeb enfasizzat mill-ktieb tal-Atti tal-Appostli fuq Publiju u l-Maltin… Read more »

Pope deplores Iraq bomb attacks and prays for the victims

Site of a suicide attack in a central market in Baghdad

Pope Francis on Thursday condemned a twin bomb attack in a Baghdad market, and described the attacks as “a senseless act of brutality.”

At least 32 people were killed in the suicide bombings and over 100 others wounded.

In a telegram, sent on his behalf by Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, the Pope said he is praying “for the deceased victims and their families, for the injured and for the emergency personnel in attendance.”

He went on to say he hopes that Iraq will continue to work to overcome violence with “fraternity, solidarity and peace,” and he invoked the Lord’s blessing upon the nation and its people… Read more »
