First Reading: Job 19, 1.23-27a
Psalm: 26
Second Reading Rom 19, 1.23-27a

Gospel: Jn 6, 37-40

In those days, Jesus told the crowd: “Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and anyone who comes to me I will never drive away; for I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.

And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. This is indeed the will of my Father, that all who see the Son and believe in him may have eternal life; and I will raise them up on the last day.” Read more »

Meta ftit ta’ snin ilu Dun Ġorġ Preca kien iddikjarat qaddis, aħna l-Maltin ilkoll fraħna li xi ħadd minn fostna ġie ddikjarat mill-Knisja bħala qaddis, jiġifieri qed igawdi lil Alla għal dejjem. Ħassejnieh bħala unur għalina.

Imma, fil-fatt, meta aħna llum niċċelebraw il-festa tal-qaddisin kollha, din tfakkarna li minbarra dawk li huma ddikjarati qaddisin, li huma ħafna u li ħafna minnhom lanqas nafuhom aħna – meta tara l-lista ta’ qaddisin meqjuma fil-Knisja huma ħafna – hemm ħafna oħra li mhumiex iddikjarati qaddisin imma li qed igawdu lil Alla fis-sema… Read more »

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles Jude Scicluna

“Dan hu n-nisel ta’ dawk li jfittxu ’l wiċċek, Mulej” (S 23:6). Din l-espressjoni sabiħa, ispirata mis-Salm 23 jew 24 skont il-verżjonijiet, li llum tlabna wara l-ewwel qari, hi espressjoni sabiħa li tfittex wiċċ il-Mulej u tiġbor fiha dak kollu li nistgħu nifhmu bi ok qdusija. Il-qdusija hija li matul ħajtek tfittex il-wiċċ tal-Mulej. “Dan hu n-nisel ta’ dawk li jfittxuh, li jfittxu ’l wiċċek, Alla ta’ Ġakobb”… Read more »

Declaration by the Holy See on the documentary “Francesco”

In recent days, some affirmations contained in the documentary “Francis,” of screenwriter Evgeny Afineevsky, have triggered different reactions and interpretations. Therefore, some useful elements are offered, with the desire to foster a correct understanding of the Holy Father’s words.

Over a year ago, during an interview, Pope Francis responded to two different questions in two different moments that, in the mentioned documentary, were edited and published as only one answer, without the due contextualization, which has generated confusion… Read more »

They were speechless – Bishop Galea-Curmi

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa at the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Joseph Galea-Curmi

Fl-Evanġelju nsibu diversi mumenti meta n-nies jistaqsu lil Ġesù; ġieli b’interess, ġieli b’sens ta’ polemika, u ġieli biex jonsbuh. Imbagħad hemm mumenti meta Ġesù nnifsu jagħmel mistoqsija. Hawnhekk fir-rakkont rajna lil Ġesù li jagħmel żewġ mistoqsijiet lill-għorrief tal-liġi u lill-Fariżej. Tolqtok kif l-Evanġelju jgħid li għal dawn il-mistoqsijiet baqgħu siekta: “ma tkellmu xejn”, u “ma kellhomx ħila jweġbuh”.

Ma għamlux hekk għax ma fehmuhx jew għax kienu aljenati, għax l-Evanġelju jgħid fil-bidu li kienu “għajnejhom fih”… Read more »
