Mother of the Church – Bishop Galea-Curmi

Mass offered for all those who are suffering, especially those who have lost a loved one during Covid-19

The Chapel of Our Lady of Manresa, the Archbishop's Curia, Floriana

L-omelija tal-Isqof Awżiljarju Joseph Galea-Curmi

Lil Marija narawha bħala Omm il-Knisja diġà fil-bidu tal-Knisja meta, kif smajna fil-Ktieb tal-Atti tal-Appostli, kienet miġbura flimkien mal-appostli huma u jitolbu. Jidher li l-appostli fehmu malajr dak li għamel Ġesù fuq is-salib meta lil Marija qalilha: “Hawn hu ibnek” u lil Ġwanni d-dixxiplu l-maħbub qallu “Hawn hi ommok” u minn dak il-ħin Ġwanni ħadha għandu. Hemmhekk, fuq is-salib, lil ommu taha lilna bħala ommna ħalli tkun hi l-omm li tmexxina fil-ħajja tagħna… Read more »

The Gospel of the day: 1st June

The Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of the Church – Memorial
Readings of the day

First Reading: Gen 3, 9-15-20 or Acts 1, 12-14
Psalm: 86 (87), 1-2.3 & 5.6-7

Gospel: Jn 19, 25-34

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother, and the disciple whom he loved standing near, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.
