Solemn Mass on the Epiphany of our Lord where two candidates where welcomed for the priesthood

  St John's Co-Cathedral, Valletta

L-omelija tal-Arċisqof Charles J. Scicluna

Id-djaknu għadu kemm ħabbrilna l-jum qaddis tal-Għid li se niċċelebraw ftit tax-xhur oħra. Il-Knisja tħabbar il-ġurnata tal-Għid propju f’dan il-jum iddedikat lill-misteru kbir tal-Epifanija għaliex illum niċċelebraw lill-Mulej, dawl minn dawl, li jidher lill-ġnus permezz ta’ kewkba tiddi fid-dlamijiet.

Fil-lejl qaddis tal-Għid bix-xemgħat mixgħula mill-blandun qaddis, aħna niddikjaraw li Ġesù huwa dawl, id-dawl ta’ Kristu. U b’xi mod din il-festa ta’ dawl tħares lejn il-festa l-kbira fejn il-Knisja tbierek l-element tan-nar u tikkonsagrah bħala xbieha ħajja ta’ Kristu, dawl minn dawl, li fil-misteru tal-mewt u l-qawmien tiegħu mill-imwiet, għeleb id-dlamijiet tal-ħażen u tal-mibegħda u nissel fil-qalb ta’ kull wieħed u waħda minna dik ix-xrara tħeġġeġ tan-nar li jkebbes il-qalb imqaddsa tiegħu… Read more »

Periods of introspection should not be shunned. On the contrary, they ought to be embraced with far more regularity than the annual tradition dictates or our good intentions risk suffering the same fate as our treasured narcissus flower, which wilts within weeks of achieving its wondrous winter bloom… Read more »
