Oħloq Tbissima Marathon: The Maltese are once again invited to help people in need

  • Il-maratona Oħloq Tbissima għaddejja ġmielha, bis-somma miġbura sa nofsillejl tal-Ġimgħa laħqet il-€25,198.

    Il-maratona bdiet il-Ġimgħa f’nofsinhar u tibqa’ sejra bla waqfien sa għada, il-Ħadd 16 ta’  Lulju, f’nofsillejl.

    Din hi l-15-il edizzjoni tal-maratona fejn id-donazzjonijiet miġbura se jgħinu l-ħidma missjunarja tas-Soċjeta’ Missjunarja ta’ San Pawl (MSSP).

    Il-ħidma missjunarja fdata f’idejn is-Soċjetà Missjunarja ta’ San Pawl (MSSP) ma tieqafx biss ma’ xtutna imma hi mifruxa wkoll fil-Perù, fil-Pakistan u anke l-Filippini

Little boy born without a brain can now speak, count, and attend school

  • When Noah Wall was born, the doctors said he probably wouldn’t survive and if he did, he would be severely physically and developmentally disabled. Born with only 2 percent of his brain to a family in Cumbria, England, Noah had no hope — at least according to the doctors.

Former administrators of Bambino Gesù Foundation indicted

  • The Holy See Press Office has issued a statement concerning indictments for embezzlement of funds from the Bambino Gesù Foundation, which exists to support the work of the Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital.

    The Statement says the former President of the Foundation, Giuseppe Profiti, and the former Treasurer of the same Foundation, Massimo Spina, were summoned to appear before the court to answer charges that they diverted more than four hundred thousand euro (€400,000) belonging to the Foundation…

‘No religion’ in Australia overtakes number of Catholics

  • Australians who declared in last year’s Census that they had “no religion” have overtaken the number of Catholics for the first time, although Christianity is still the religion of more than half the population.

    Figures released recently from the Census held last August showed that 30 per cent of Australians reported that they had no religion in 2016, with Catholics making up 22.6 per cent of all Australians – more than 5.2 million people – down from 25.3 per cent in the previous Census in 2011…

The Church reiterates her commitment in favour of marriage between a man and a woman

Mother Teresa’s white and blue sari becomes a registered trademark

  • Mother Teresa’s blue striped white cotton sari is now a registered trademark.

    The typical Indian dress, which the Missionaries of Charity have worn around the world since 1950, is now under intellectual property rights held by the congregation founded by the saint of Kolkata.

No change in the hosts currently used by coeliacs

  • With reference to media reports regarding the Vatican circular sent to Bishops, on the bread and wine for the Eucharist, the Curia Communications Office confirms that no changes are being made in the hosts which are currently used by coeliacs.
