The Gospel of the day – 25th October

  • Luke 13,1-9

It was just about this time that some people arrived and told him about the Galileans whose blood Pilate had mingled with that of their sacrifices. At this he said to them, ‘Do you suppose that these Galileans were worse sinners than any others, that this should have happened to them? They were not, I tell you…

He said again to the crowds, ‘When you see a cloud looming up in the west you say at once that rain is coming, and so it does. And when the wind is from the south you say it’s going to be hot, and it is. Hypocrites! You know how to interpret the face of the earth and the sky…

You may be quite sure of this, that if the householder had known at what time the burglar would come, he would not have let anyone break through the wall of his house. You too must stand ready, because the Son of man is coming at an hour you do not expect.’ Peter said, ‘Lord, do you mean this parable for us, or for everyone?’ The Lord replied, ‘Who, then, is the wise and trustworthy steward whom the master will place over his household to give them at the proper time their allowance of food? …

Internet’s impact on families raised at Synod

  • Among the additions and modifications recommended for the Synod’s final summary document was the impact of the Internet on the family. The topic was raised in the Synod’s second week, during discussions held in the various language groups, by Archbishop Paul-André Durocher, president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops.

“The discussion group thought it was important enough to propose a modification to the document so that we (the Church) would speak about this,” he explained in an interview with Vatican Radio…
