POPE: BELIEVERS MUST OPPOSE VIOLENCE TO PROMOTE PEACE, TRUE FAITH

Pope Benedict XVI

Taking 300 religious leaders with him on pilgrimage to Assisi, Pope Benedict XVI said people who are suspicious of religion cannot be blamed for questioning God’s existence when they see believers use religion to justify violence. “All their struggling and questioning is, in part, an appeal to believers to purify their faith so that God, the true God, becomes accessible,” the pope said Oct… Read more »

RESPECT TOWARDS ANIMALS

Matul dawn l-aħħar xhur il-media wasslitilna rapporti dwar każijiet xokkanti ta’ kefrija kbira fuq l-annimali. Dawn l-atti ġibdu l-attenzjoni tal-pubbliku inġenerali u ħolqu ferment mal-pajjiż kollu. Bla tlaqliq ta’ xejn, il-Kummissjoni Interdjoċesana Ambjent (KA) tingħaqad mal-bqija tal-poplu u tikkundanna bla riżervi dawn l-atti barbareski. Li tispara fuq kelb u tidfnu ħaj, li tagħlaq kelb f’borża tal-plastik u titfgħu fiż-żibel ferut u agunija, li ssallab ġeru u ssammru rasu ’l isfel ma’ bieb ta’ residenza, minbarra li jnaqqsu mill-ġieħ tal-istess persuni li jwettquhom, huma atti li joffendu s-sentimenti tal-komunità u għalhekk huma atti li jitolbu kundanna serja li għandha tkun riflessa fis-sentenzi u l-pieni xierqa li jingħataw fil-qorti li jservu ta’ deterrent… Read more »

ARCHBISHOP’S MESSAGE ON THE OCCASION OF HIS FATHER’S FUNERAL

KonKatidral ta’ San Ġwann, il-Belt, Vallettta

26 ta’ Ottubru, 2011

Ħuti,

Hemm diversi modi kif tibda tħares lejn dan il-mument, iżda jien nixtieq li nħarsu lejh fid-dawl tal-kliem li nsibu fil-ktieb ta’ Ġob: “Il-Mulej tani, il-Mulej ħadli: ikun imbierek isem il-Mulej” (1,21). Nixtieq li nagħmlu tagħna it-tagħlima ta’ Ġob għaliex hija l-unika triq lejn Alla: ta’ umilta’ u fiduċja quddiem il-kobor ta’ Alla, aktar milli ta’ pretensjoni quddiemu.  … Read more »

Through towns and villages he went teaching, making his way to Jerusalem. Someone said to him, ‘Sir, will there be only a few saved?’ He said to them, ‘Try your hardest to enter by the narrow door, because, I tell you, many will try to enter and will not succeed. ‘Once the master of the house has got up and locked the door, you may find yourself standing outside knocking on the door, saying, “Lord, open to us,” but he will answer, “I do not know where you come from.” Then you will start saying, “We once ate and drank in your company; you taught in our streets,” but he will reply, “I do not know where you come from; away from me, all evil doers!” ‘Then there will be weeping and grinding of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrown out… Read more »
