BENEDICT XVI PRAYING FOR DRUG ADDICTS

Benedict XVI is dedicating the month of November to pray for those who use drugs, or who are dependent on other substances.

The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for November.

His general prayer intention is: “That victims of drugs or of other dependence may, thanks to the support of the Christian community, find in the power of our saving God strength for a radical life-change.”

7 KILLED IN SYRIAN CATHOLIC CHURCH IN BAGHDAD

A hostage situation in the Sayidat al-Najat Syrian Catholic cathedral of Baghdad Sunday ended when Iraqi police stormed the church. At least seven are dead, and another 20 are wounded.

Jesuit Father Federico Lombardi, director of the Vatican press office, affirmed that the Holy See was following closely the situation that began when gunmen entered the church during the Sunday liturgy and took the congregation as hostages… Read more »
