Archbishop Paul Cremona OP spoke on the adverse effects as a result of marriage breakdowns. The Archbishop spoke during a national conference which focused on the theme ‘Towards a Stronger Marriage’. FUND RAISING IN AID OF HAITI

Maltese Jesuits to Fundraise for Salesian Missions in Haiti

In light of the tragic events which have put Haiti at the forefront of World media and global initiatives, the Maltese Jesuit Province will be dedicating Wednesday 10th of February to creating awareness and raising funds for the people of Haiti.

75% of the funds raised will go to the Salesians in Haiti, whose schools have been so badly hit, and who will still be there long after others have gone… Read more »

BENEDICT XVI: SPORT “AN EFFECTIVE CONTRIBUTION” TO PEACE AND “THE CIVILIZATION OF LOVE”

Sport “can make an effective contribution to peaceful understanding between peoples and to establishing the new civilization of love”. This sentence, first pronounced by John Paul II in 2000, was echoed today by Benedict XVI in a message addressed to Mgr. J. Michael Miller, Archbishop of Vancouver, host city of the next Olympic and Paralympic games. “I was pleased to learn that the XXI Winter Olympic Games and the X Paralympic Winter Games are to be held in the Archdiocese of Vancouver and the Diocese of Kamloops, from 12 to 28 February 2010”, said the Pope at the beginning of his message calling the event “an important occurrence for both athletes and spectators”… Read more »

Prayer Meeting for Priests

On Wednesday, 3rd February 2010, on the occasion of the year dedicated to priests, the College of Parish Priests modified the Candlemass celebration. Parish priests and priests attended for the celebration which took place at the Divine Mercy sanctuary in Naxxar. 47 RELIGIOUS COUNTED AMONG HAITIAN CASUALTIES

Haiti earthquake

Several religious were among the casualties — which are up to 170,000 according to the most recent count — from the Jan. 12 earthquake that struck Port-au-Prince.

Fides, the news agency of the Pontifical Mission Societies, publicized the most recent report sent by the Haitian Conference of Religious, although the details are still incomplete regarding the status of the various missionary groups… Read more »

SANTA LUĊIJA PASTORAL VISIT OPENING MASS

On Saturday 30th January, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP celebrated Mass at Santa Luċija Parish, for the official opening of the Pastoral visit. FERENCVAROS VISIT DAR TAL-PROVIDENZA

On Tuesday 2nd February 2010, Hungarian Football team, Ferencvaros visted Dar tal-Providenza facilities. The players and coaches of this club took part in the activities which also involved a training session. Maltese national team and Ferencvaros goalkeeper, Justin Haber, was also present for the occasion.

BLESSING OF THE FOUNDATION STONE OF QRENDI’S NEW PASTORAL CENTRE

On Sunday, 31st January 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP blessed the foundation stone of a new pastoral centre at Qrendi. As part of the celebration, the Archbishop celebrated Mass.
