Fost diversi attivitajiet li se jkomplu matul din il-ġimgħa, nhar il-Ħadd 18 ta’ Ottubru l-Arċisqof iċċelebra Quddiesa fil-Knisja ta’ Selmun fejn wara ltaqa’ man-nies preżenti. CARDINAL URGES CATHOLICS TO ENGAGE IN CULTURE

There is a need for Catholics to engage modern culture, understanding and appreciating its positive aspects while debating its negative points, said the former president of the Italian bishops’ conference.
Cardinal Camillo Ruini affirmed this Thursday in a Vatican Radio interview regarding the recent publication of a book, “Confini” (Limits), that features a discussion between the cardinal and historian Ernesto Galli della Loggia.
The prelate stated that if humanity “wishes to go forward, if it wishes to seriously address the great problems it faces, it must have a broader reason, a reason free from the scientific spirit and from relativism.”
He explained that Benedict XVI’s invitation to “broaden the spaces of rationality” is directed to all of society, although in a more specific way he was indicating for the Church the “path of a genuine evangelization” of the West… Read more »

POPE TO VISIT ROME SYNAGOGUE IN JANUARY

In a gesture of interfaith reconciliation, Pope Benedict XVI will visit the Rome synagogue and meet with the city’s Jewish community in January, the Vatican announced.

The pope’s visit on Jan. 17, 2010, coincides with the Roman Jewish commemoration of “Lead Mo’ed,” which marks a torrential rain in 1793 that saved Jews from a Roman mob’s attempt to attack them. POPE TO VISIT SUMMIT ON FOOD SECURITY

Benedict XVI will visit the Rome headquarters of the U.N. Food and Agriculture Organization for the opening day of its World Summit on Food Security.

The Pope will visit the FAO on Nov. 15, the Vatican announced today. The World Summit on Food Security will be held immediately prior to the FAO general conference, Nov. 18-23.
