The Institute of Pastoral Formation of the Church in Malta has recently organized the annual graduation ceremony for 155 students who have successfully completed nine different courses held throughout the recent academic year. This ceremony was presided over by the Archbishop, Paul Cremona OP and was held at the Archbishop’s Seminary on Tuesday 8th November.  The courses were the following:

  • General Education Award in Evangelisation (MQC level 4)
  • A Short Introduction to the Liturgy (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Catholic Social Teaching (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Natural Family Planning (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Christian Leadership II (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Christian Leadership III (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Theology (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Adolescent and Youth Ministry (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Catholic Religious Education (MQC level 7)

For the first time ever, these courses were certified by the Malta Qualifications Council.  The Director of the Institute of Pastoral Formation, Fr Mark Sultana stated that “these course are now recognised by the State; this means that besides the fact that they have a strong bearing upon the faith and ecclesiastical aspect, they are also officially recognised; this shows that the courses which are offered are of a serious and professional nature”.

Since its inception in 2005, more than 570 persons have received their formation through the Institute of Pastoral Formation.  During this academic year, around 196 students are following nine different courses, which include a new course in Theology and Pastoral Service in the Family.
