Saturday April 21 – The sixth edition of the World Youth Day Song Contest was held in the Attard Parish auditorium. Eight local Christian bands performed live original songs to a sold-out auditorium. The theme of this year’s contest was: “Rejoice in the Lord, Always.” (Phil 4,4)
The songs were individually assessed by a seven-member jury of experts. Towards the end of the evening, the results announced ‘I Will Rejoice’, by The Pilgrimage, as Best Overall Song. Temple and Colour have been awarded Best Interpretation and Best Lyrics respectively. Other contest participants included Footprints, Connections, Roots, A+B-C, and His Project.
The WYD Song Contest is a local initiative where Christian musicians compose songs on the annual theme for young people, proposed by the Pope. The 2012 edition of the Contest was hosted by YouthReach, Attard and co-ordinated by the Diocesan Youth Commission (KDZ).
