On Sunday 17th January, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP celebrated Mass at Tarxien Parish, for the official opening of the Pastoral visit. In his homily, the Archbishop spoke about the meaning behind his pastoral visit and explained that, as the word implies, these are visits by the shepherd who takes care of his flock and looks after their well being. The Archbishop emphasized on the importance of ‘unity’, which he said, is an essential element for one to have a strong community which can endure all evils. The Archbishop spoke on the importance of having commissions in a Parish, since they should mirror those same ideals a strong community portrays.
