From the 25th November until the 10th December, in line with the international 16 days of activism against gender based violence, Fondazzjoni Sebħ is launching a campaign across Malta and Gozo entitled ‘Stand with Sebħ’. Throughout this campaign businesses, organisations and even the general public are encouraged to share the message that they too ‘Stand with Sebħ in eliminating violence against women and children.’
Yesterday the campaign kicked off with a conference held for HR managers at San Anton Palace, under the patronage of His Excellency President George Vella. This focused on bringing the corporate and the social world together to increase awareness and sensitivity and in turn create safer spaces in the workplace with increased understanding of how to handle situations where employees face such struggles. Amongst the attendees were the Minister for Social Policy and Children’s Rights, Hon. Dr Michael Falzon, Ms Audrey Friggieri, the Commissioner on Gender Based Violence and Domestic Violence and Ms Antoinette Vassallo, the Commissioner for Children.
From the 25th November the teams from Fondazzjoni Sebħ will be visiting various communities across Malta and Gozo to further share the message in favour of the elimination of violence against women and children and to encourage companies to display their solidarity in standing against violence. Likewise 16 restaurants, one for every day of the campaign, are showing their solidarity by promoting the campaign amongst their diners and donating towards the cause.
Throughout the campaign, the general public are encouraged to share the ‘Stand with Sebħ’ message across social media platforms. This will amplify the voice of those who have experienced violence. Collectively we have a responsibility to shed light on this social issue and to work together in eliminating violence from the lives of women and children.
