On Friday 19th December, 2014, six seminarians are going to be instituted in the Acolyte Ministry by His Lordship Monsignor Charles J. Scicluna, Titular Bishop of San Leone, Apostolic Administrator, Sede Vacante, during a mass celebrated at St Joseph Parish Church, Kalkara, commencing at 6:30pm.
The Six seminarians are Sergio Fenech and Mark Mallia Pawley from St Sebastian’s Parish, Ħal Qormi, Claude Mifsud from the Parish of the Assumption of Mary, Mosta, James Saydon from the Parish of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary, Naxxar, Andrew Schembri from the of St George’s Parish, Ħal Qormi, and Gilbert Scicluna from St Joseph’s Parish, Kalkara.
The institution as acolytes marks another important step in the seminarians’ formation for priesthood. As acolytes they will assist priests and deacons in their ministry, distribute the Eucharist to their fellow brothers and sisters including the sick, continue to grow in their personal love for the Eucharist and above all, act and speak in such a way to be worthy servants of the Lord and the Church.
The community of the Major Seminary and urge everyone to pray for these seminarians, and to pray to the Lord that those whom he calls to the priestly and religious life may respond generously and wholeheartedly.
