The Church of Santa Marija ta’ Ġesù, run by the Franciscan Friars in Rabat, will be offering a unique spiritual experience this coming Sunday, 7th September 2025. During the solemn Mass at 9:45a.m., all children present will be given a book about the life of Blessed Carlo Acutis.
On this occasion, a relic in the form of a bust of Blessed Carlo Acutis, crafted by the renowned artist Adonai Camilleri Cauchi, will be displayed on the church’s main altar. This artistic and devotional presence will offer the faithful an opportunity to draw closer to the witness of Acutis’ faith.
Masses in the church on Sunday will be celebrated at 7:15am, 8:30am, 9:45am, and 11:00am. From this Sunday onwards, the faithful will also be able to obtain new holy cards with a special prayer dedicated to Blessed Carlo Acutis.
Who is Blessed Carlo Acutis?
Carlo Acutis (1991–2006) was an Italian teenager known for his strong faith and deep love for the Eucharist. Despite growing up in the digital age, he used technology to spread the Gospel and to promote devotion to the Mass and Eucharistic Adoration. He was also recognized for his generosity toward the poor and marginalised, as well as for his ability to gently bring his friends and peers closer to God. Carlo passed away at the age of 15 from an aggressive form of leukaemia, yet his example continues to inspire many. He was beatified by Pope Francis in 2020 and is often referred to as “the influencer of God.” Today, he is especially venerated as a patron and role model for young people and for all those seeking to live their faith with simplicity and authenticity.
