Friday, 3rd August 2018 – Prayer vigil at the parish church of Saint Joseph the Worker, Birkirkara
7:30 p.m. Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna leads a prayer vigil in preparation for the Episcopal Ordination of the new Auxiliary Bishop of Malta. During the vigil, Mgr Joseph Galea‑Curmi recites the profession of faith and takes the oath of fidelity. The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Alessandro D’Errico, will also be in attendance. During this vigil, Archbishop Scicluna will bless the episcopal insignia (pastoral staff, mitre and the ring) that will be worn by Mgr Galea‑Curmi on the following day during his Episcopal Ordination. The prayer vigil will be broadcast live on the YouTube Channel of the Archdiocese of Malta.
Saturday, 4th August 2018 – The Episcopal Ordination at the Cathedral in Mdina6:40 p.m. The Archbishop of Malta and the other Bishops, together with the Bishop‑elect, leave the Archbishop’s Palace to St Paul’s Cathedral where they will be welcomed by the members of the Metropolitan Chapter. The Archbishop and the Bishop‑elect then proceed to the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament for a moment of prayer.
7:00 p.m. Archbishop Scicluna leads the Solemn Mass of the Ordination. The two co‑ordaining Bishops are the Archbishop Emeritus, Mgr Paul Cremona O.P., and the Bishop of Gozo, Mgr Mario Grech. The Mass will be broadcast live on TVM2 and on the YouTube Channel of the Archdiocese of Malta.
Saturday, 11th August 2018 – Thanksgiving Mass at the parish church of Ħal Balzan7:00 p.m. The Auxiliary Bishop celebrates a Thanksgiving Mass with the community of Ħal Balzan, where he has been serving for the past 27 years.
Transport arrangements for the episcopal ordination
The Archbishop’s Curia is organising a free park and ride service to anyone who wishes to attend the Episcopal Ordination Mass, from the Archbishop’s Seminary, Tal‑Virtù, to Mdina, and back. The service starts at 5:30 p.m. from the Seminary, and back from Mdina at 10:30 p.m. Anyone wishing to make use of this service should plan ahead and also send an SMS to 79747300 with the name and surname of each person who will be using this service.
