Professional Training in Youth Ministry
-
29 people have newly enrolled into youth ministry courses of varying degrees, giving youth leaders a more comprehensive preparation for their pasoral work with young people. The two main programmes are the Higher Education Award in Youth and Adolescent Ministry, and the Co-Youth Leadership Course. Over the past years, more than another 200 participants have successfully completed, or are following, formal training in the field, among them 18 researchers at Master’s level.
The church in Malta understands the need to provide youth with well-prepared guides and is committed to equip leaders with professional training. These leaders often engage in voluntary pastoral work in direct contact with young people.
The programmes are specially-designed in conformity with the vision for development in youth ministry, drawn out in the Diocesan Formation Map, and are recognised by the National Qualifications Framework.
These training experiences see close collaboration between church organs, namely: the Institute for Pastoral Formation (PFI), the Secretariat for Catecheses (SFC), and the Commission for Young People within the church (KDŻ).
