Pope Francis and Pope Benedict XVI will be the focus of a book launch event at the Archbishop’s Curia, Floriana, on Wednesday 20 November at 6:30pm.

Two books will be presented, one by Archbishop Alfred Xuereb, Apostolic Nuncio in Morocco, and a former second secretary of Pope Benedict XVI. The book, in Maltese, is Il-Jiem Tiegħi ma’ Benedittu XVI. The book, in diary form, outlines the profound character and spiritual finesse of the late Pope.

The other book is by Mgr Prof. Hector Scerri, a theologian, academic member of the University of Malta and a Holy See representative on Catholic-Orthodox theological dialogue. His book, in Italian, Chiesa, Vieni fuori! published by Marcianum Press, Venice, highlights the reassembling community which is called to be a “field-hospital Church”.

Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Galea-Curmi and Dr André P. DeBattista will comment on the new books. The public will also have the opportunity to ask questions to the two authors. Music by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart will be performed.

Copies of both books will be available at the book launch. Entrance is free.

After the book launch, Mgr Xuereb’s book will be available from MidSea Books and leading bookshops, whilst Mgr Scerri’s book will be available from Emmaus in Birkirkara and Marcanium Press.
