On Friday 23 January, a Diocesan Ecumenical Service was held in Rabat as part of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.
Led by Archbishop Charles Scicluna, the service began with a moment of prayer at St Paul’s Grotto, followed by prayers at Collegiate Basilica of St Paul with the participation of various Christian Churches, including the Russian, Serbian, Indian and Romanian Orthodox Churches; the Church of England; St Andrew’s Scots Church in Valletta; the Catholic Church, the Greek Catholic Church; the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church in Malta; the Chinese Christian Church; and the Evangelical Lutheran Church.
The reflection was delivered by Bishop Andrej of the Serbian Orthodox Church. Those present prayed for unity among Christians, inspired by the theme: “There is one body and one Spirit” (Eph 4:4).
