The Church in Malta invites all Catholics in Malta to gather and celebrate Pentecost together at 7:30pm on Saturday 18th May 2024, the eve of the feast of Pentecost, at the Floriana Parish Church.

This year’s invitation is inspired by the Acts of the Apostles: “They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them” (Acts 2:3-4).

The diocesan celebration will be presided over by Archbishop Charles Scicluna. It will include a time of prayer led by different Christian groups and movements within the diocese and a teaching by Fr Paul Sciberras. Three individuals will share their personal experiences of faith, with one speaking of his missionary experience and how he shared the Good News in a distant land. The climax of the celebration will be adoration in front of the Blessed Sacrament and prayers to the Holy Spirit.

On the feast of Pentecost, the Church recalls the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the apostles and the birth of the Church, marking the beginning of the disciples’ mission to spread the Good News around the whole world.
