Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. has appointed Fr Joseph Cilia as the new parish priest of Vittoriosa.
Fr Joseph Cilia was born in Pieta on 30th December, 1971. Fr Joseph received his primary education in Mosta and his secondary education in Naxxar, Paola and St Michael’s school, St Venera. He carried out his tertiary studies in the Faculty of Art and Theology (Philosophy and Theology).
Fr Joseph was ordained to the priesthood on 3rd August, 2001. He started his pastoral work in Imgarr parish where he served for one year. He was then appointed vice-parish priest of Qormi, St Sebastian for three years. During the last five years Fr Joseph has been serving as parish priest of Safi. As part of his pastoral work he was also a spiritual director at the Secondary School of tal-Handaq in Qormi.
The number of parishioners in Birgu is around 2,958 gathered in around 1,000 families.
