Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. has appointed Can. Fr Carm Busuttil as the new parish priest of Swatar.
Fr Carm Busuttil was born in Birkirkara in 1947. He received his education at St. Francis School, Birkirkara Primary school and the Minor Seminary. In 1966 he entered the Archbishop’s Seminary and was ordained to the priesthood in 1974.
Fr Carm served as an assistant parish priest of St. Joseph the Worker, Birkirkara, Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Gżira, Immaculate Conception, Ħamrun and the parish of St. Helen in Birkirkara where was appointed member of St. Helen’s Collegiate Chapter on the 8th May 1986. As part of his pastoral work he also served as a religious counselor in State owned primary schools.
Fr Carm also served in Swatar, even before this locality was declared a parish in December 2009, after which he was appointed assistant parish priest.
The number of parishioners in Swatar is around 5,100 gathered in 1,500 families.
