VOTO – The Volunteers of the Order of Malta has for the first time participated in the Malta Holiday Camp between the 10 and 17 July 2010, which has been organised on a yearly basis for the last 20 years and more. The International Holiday Camp also known as the Malta Camp is a one-week event organised by the member associations of the Order of Malta and the respective volunteer organizations. This event is organised in a different country each year and hosts 350 – 450 persons from over 20 countries. This one-week of joy for helpers and guests alike accommodates around 180 – 200 guests each facing various challenges in their lives, be them physical or mental. The aim of the camp is to provide a level playing field for all people attending. Whether a guest is in a wheelchair, or has any other impairment, logistics are put into place to facilitate full participation in all activities.
The guests had a very busy timetable with activities including scuba diving, horse riding, sailing, airplane flying, just to mention a few. Various excursions and masses were organized which events all delegates participated in.
The guests and helpers all returned to Malta exhausted and suffering from lack of sleep, but with smiles on their faces and memories close to their hearts.
