A national conference aimed at enhancing the quality of life for people with epilepsy and their families is to be held in Hamrun later this month.

The Malta National Epilepsy Conference, organised by the Caritas Malta Epilepsy Association in conjunction with the University of Malta’s Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, will take place on 21 March at the Caritas Community Centre.

The condition affects more than 4,000 people in Malta and Gozo. Often described as a hidden medical condition, epilepsy can significantly impact a person’s social and personal life, requiring a range of medical and support services.

This year’s theme, “Enhancing quality of life in epilepsy”, will focus on practical aspects of living with the condition. The conference will be opened by President Myriam Spiteri Debono.

Speakers include Professor Gus Baker from the University of Liverpool, who is also Secretary General of the International Bureau for Epilepsy, alongside several distinguished local professionals. An interactive session will allow attendees to share experiences and ask questions.

The event is aimed at people with epilepsy, their families, healthcare professionals and students working in the field.

Registration closes on 16 March, with limited places available. Further details can be found online.
