These were the words of people that came to know closely Fr. Eric Overend, the Żejtun Archpriest, during the Mass of his funeral, held yesterday 1st May 2013, at the Parish Church. His coffin was accompanied by his mother Carmen, that had passed away two days before him.
A church full of people, silent and stunned, reflected on Fr Eric’s work in his apostolate : with youths, families, couples, with the listeners of the Radio, and with all those in need. We cannot forget the work the Fr Overend gave in the field of the environment, an assiduous work until the end. The strong sense of gratitude he had had in his words and example instil inspiration to everybody, mostly those that work in the Lord’s field.
He was truly a priest according to the heart of God. We remember him in our prayers.
