A group of young people recently held their final meeting with Archbishop Charles Scicluna as members of the Diocesan Children’s Commission (KDT).

This marked the conclusion of their nine-year journey within the KDT, during which they were active members dedicated to the Commission’s mission. It was, in fact, Archbishop Scicluna who, upon becoming Archbishop of Malta, expressed his wish for the Commission to grow and strengthen, welcoming more members from different parishes.

The meeting, held in Mellieħa as part of a special farewell live-in prepared by the Commission, was an emotional moment for both the members and the Archbishop.

In his address, Archbishop Charles Scicluna encouraged the young people to continue meeting and supporting each other. He urged them to leave the world better than they found it, to treasure their friendships, to speak and act with respect, and, above all, to treat others as they would wish to be treated.

The gathering closed with a renewed sense of commitment to living out the values and lessons they have embraced over the years.

The Diocesan Children’s Commission is made up of two sections: KDT, for children aged 7 to 13, and KDT+, for adolescents aged 14 and above.

The Commission works within the Archdiocese of Malta to foster the social and spiritual formation of its members through a variety of activities, including weekend live-ins, monthly meetings and regular encounters with the Archbishop. In addition to supporting children and young people, the Commission also engages with their families through activities designed for all family members.
