On Friday 9th March 2012, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. participated in the assembly on the occasion of ‘The Day of the Laity’, at St Monica’s School, Birkirkara.
“God always blesses the work of mankind with his grace, despite the weak and sinful nature which is intrinsic to every person.” This was the main reflection which Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. shared with all those gathered for this assembly which is organised annually by the Secretariat for the Laity. The theme chosen this year was ‘The Catholic Lay and the Apostleship of the Lay: Treasures and Jars of Clay’.
Mgr Cremona explained that God is not reluctant to seek the cooperation of the weak and those who err. However, the important thing is that we live this reality by recognizing our weakness. In this light, man will be strongest when he is weak, because he knows that within him, he has the power of God.
Mgr Anton Gouder, Pro-Vicar General, also addressed the assembly. He explained that Catholics, in their role as evangelizers, should build bridges of friendship with all those around them in order that Jesus may traverse those bridges.
On the occasion of the 50th anniversary from the beginning of Vatican Council II, a documentary about the Council – fifty years later – was also screened.
