The Theology Students’ Association (T.S.A.) was founded on the 6th of November 1945 under the name of Royal University Students’ Theology Association. The present name was adopted in 1978 after the Faculty of Theology ceased to form part of the University, because of the reforms then introduced. The Faculty of Theology again became part of the University of Malta in 1988. During the period in which the Theology students were not at the University, the T.S.A. continually spoke out in favour of the return of the Faculty of Theology to the University, where it is today.

    Aims

    • To represent its members with the University authorities.
    • To guide the members in interpreting in God’s light the signs of the times in the Maltese environment.
    • To render theology a help for University students in their journey of faith in today’s society.
    • To give its Christian contribution to the cultural development of our country.

    Publications
Since March 1947, the T.S.A. was the publisher of a twice-yearly review called Melita Theologica, containing articles on theology, philosophy and human sciences. Following an agreement signed recently, Melita Theologica became the official peer-reviewed journal of the Faculty of Theology at the University of Malta, published jointly by the Faculty of Theology, the Theology Students’ Association and the Foundation for Theological Studies.
The T.S.A. also has its own online blog www.zuntier.com.

    Activities
Each year the T.S.A. organises an academic evening in honour of St Thomas Aquinas. This activity provides the general public the opportunity to meet internationally-renowned theologians who share with us their reflections on the experience of faith in today’s world.
The T.S.A. also organises a number of social, recreational and intellectual activities for its own members as well as for other University students. One of these is the charity campaign on campus called “Make My House a Home”. By means of this campaign, the T.S.A., along with the University students, contributes towards the Preventive Care Unit within the Children’s Homes Office.
