Legion of Mary

The Legion of Mary is a lay movement founded by Frank Duff in Dublin on the 7th September 1921. In Malta the Legion was introduced by Miss Monica Walsh on the 3rd November 1936 in Sliema. Today the Legion of Mary is found in nearly all the parishes of Malta and Gozo.

The aim of the Legion is the glory of God through the personal sanctity of its members, achieved through prayer and work, under the guidance of the Church. The members get their inspiration from the Blessed Virgin Mary, by imitating her humility, obedience, self-denial, spirit of prayer, faith and love of God. The Legion issues a publication entitled “Vexillina”, every two months. The editor is Mr. Kenneth Abela.
