Over 100 homeless and vulnerable people supported by Caritas of Albano joined Pope Leo XIV for a meal in the gardens of Castel Gandolfo, where the Pontiff is spending much of his summer break.

The initiative continues the practice established by Pope Francis, who frequently invited disadvantaged groups to share meals with him. Many of the attendees at Castel Gandolfo face homelessness or other personal difficulties, and the gathering was coordinated by the Diocese of Albano Laziale together with the Borgo Laudato Si’ centre… Read more »

Pope offers prayers for flood victims in Pakistan, Nepal and India

  Castel Gandolfo, Italy

Dear brothers and sisters, happy Sunday!

Today’s Gospel presents us with a demanding text (cf. Lk 12:49-53), in which Jesus uses strong images and great frankness to teach his disciples that his mission, and even that of his followers, is not a “bed of roses”, but a “sign of contradiction” (cf. Lk 2:34).

In this way, the Lord anticipates what he will have to face in Jerusalem when he will be opposed, arrested, insulted, beaten, crucified; when his message of love and justice will be rejected; when the leaders of the people will react with viciousness at his preaching… Read more »

Welcome Christ in the poor – The Pope

Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Rotonda in Albano, Italy

Having returned to Castel Gandolfo in the Castelli Romani on 13 August, Pope Leo XIV presided over Mass at the Sanctuary of Santa Maria della Rotonda. Reflecting on the gift of celebrating another day together, the Pope turned to the “greater gift” that Christ has already overcome: death. He explained that Sunday is a reminder of this victory.

He acknowledged that while we might come to church with fear and anxiety, “immediately we are less alone” once we gather together and encounter the Word and Body of Christ… Read more »

Dear brothers and sisters,

Today is not Sunday, yet we celebrate in another way the Paschal Mystery of Jesus, which changed the course of history. In Mary of Nazareth, we recognize our own history: the history of the Church, immersed in the common lot of humanity. By taking flesh in her, the God of life — the God of freedom — has conquered death… Read more »

Cycle of Catechesis – Jubilee 2025. Jesus Christ our Hope. III. The Passover of Jesus. 2. The betrayal. “Surely it is not I?” (Mk 14,19)

Dear brothers and sisters,

Let us continue our journey in the school of the Gospel, following Jesus’ steps in the final days of his life. Today we will pause at an intimate, dramatic, yet also profoundly true scene: the moment at which, during the Passover supper, Jesus reveals that one of the Twelve is about to betray him: “Amen, I say to you, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me” (Mk 14:18)… Read more »

Pope Leo Angelus

Dear brothers and sisters, happy Sunday!

In today’s Gospel Jesus invites us to consider how we will invest the treasure that is our life (cf. Lk 12:32-48). He says: “Sell your possessions and give alms” (v. 33).

He exhorts us not to keep to ourselves the gifts that God has given us, but rather to use them generously for the good of others, especially those most in need of our help… Read more »

This has been possible through the participation of each one of you… Read more »

The Pope: The encounter with the risen Christ transforms our lives, enlightens our affections, desires and thoughts

Youth Jubilee Mass

  Tor Vergata, Italy

Dear young people,

After last night’s Prayer Vigil, we gather again today to celebrate the Eucharist, the Sacrament of the Lord’s total gift of himself to us.  We can imagine ourselves today retracing the journey made on Easter evening by the disciples on the road to Emmaus (cf. Lk 24:13-35): they set out from Jerusalem frightened and disappointed, convinced that, after Jesus’ death, there was nothing more to expect, nothing in which to place their hope… Read more »
