The Vatican has billed Pope Benedict XVI’s four-day visit to Great Britain as a trip to beatify the 19th-century intellectual and theologian Cardinal John Henry Newman. When Benedict XVI makes his Sept. 16-19 State visit to the United Kingdom, people worldwide will be able to watch through the Eternal Word Television Network. The EWTN Global Catholic Network announced that it will air the events of the Pope’s visit to England and Scotland on television in various languages: English, Spanish, French and German.The events will also be streamed live on the organization’s Web site and broadcast through its radio network… Read more »
Today, Thursday, 26th August, 2010, is the birth centernary of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. The order she founded Missionaries of Charity, as well as faithful and nonbelievers from around the world are joining in preparation for the anniversary.

Catholics across Ireland joined to aid the 20 million Pakistani flood victims through a nationwide Church collection. Pakistan saw its most devastating monsoon rainy season in decades, which caused flooding that brought as many as 2,000 deaths and affected another 20 million people. The area affected by the floods is about the size of England.
Trocaire, the official overseas development agency of the Church in Ireland, is working to provide emergency relief to the flood victims… Read more »
Pope addresses pilgrims at Castel Gandolfo
In his message before praying the Angelus with all those present at the Apostolic Palace of Castel Gandolfo, Pope Benedict XVI invites all of us to venerate the Virgin Mary for being the humble one, “she who was the perfect example of the evangelic truth”. The residents of Id-Dar tal-Providenza, a home of persons with disability in Siggiewi now have access to a brand new twenty-two-seater Tail Lift Coach that can also accommodate up to ten wheelchairs. Haiti earthquake
A delegation from the U.S. bishops’ conference noted that reconstruction in Haiti has been slow, and the women and children in that country especially need protection from crime.
The delegation from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops is preparing a report to be released next month, in which they will publicize their findings from a July 26-Aug. 2 trip to the Caribbean region… Read more »
