Pope Benedict called for Israelis and Palestinians “to strive for a just and peaceful co-existence” Pope Benedict XVI has expressed his hope for an end to conflicts around the world, in his traditional Christmas Day message from the Vatican. In his address from St Peter’s Basilica, he called on Israelis and Palestinians to co-exist in peace. The Office of Liturgical Celebrations of the Supreme Pontiff published the list of Christmas ceremonies over which Benedict XVI will preside. As is traditional, the Holy Father will celebrate the principal Masses of the four solemnities: the Nativity, Holy Mary Mother of God, Epiphany and the Lord’s Baptism — in total four Eucharistic celebrations and solemn vespers on Dec. 31. On Wednesday, 22nd December 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. exchanged Christmas greetings with all Curia employees and collaborators. In his message, Mgr. Cremona spoke about the importance of keeping mankind at the centre of all pastoral and administrative work carried out by all those who work in Church entities.

Pope blesses families
Benedict XVI is urging the state support of families so that they can better fulfill their mission to pass on values to children and young people.
The Pope made this appeal Thursday upon receiving in audience Miquel Àngel Canturri Montanya, the new ambassador from Andorra to the Holy See.

Benedict XVI is speaking out against the crimes of child pornography and pedophilia, and is underlining the need to fight these evils through a solid formation of conscience.
The Pope stated this today during his traditional meeting with the cardinals, archbishops, bishops, and members of the Roman Curia and of the Governorate of Vatican City State, for the exchange of Christmas greetings.
“For all its new hopes and possibilities, our world is at the same time troubled by the sense that moral consensus is collapsing, consensus without which juridical and political structures cannot function,” he observed. … Read more »
