MASS FOR COUPLES WHO MARRIED IN 2010

On Saturday 15th January, 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona OP  celebrated Mass at St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, for couples that celebrated their marriage during 2010.

In his homily, Archbishop Cremona stated that nobody should come between spouses; those individuals who entered the sacrament of marriage should abide by their marital consent and remain faithful to one another. Mons Cremons explained how it is not circumstances that dictate how a marriage fares, but rather it is love that transforms circumstances; he insisted upon the importance of forgiveness between the spouses.  … Read more »

1,616 MARRIAGES IN THE CHURCH IN MALTA IN 2010

The number of Church marriages registered in the Archdiocese of Malta during the year 2010 was 1,616. This marks an increase of 12% over the previous year, which registered 1,423 marriages.

1,379 of the total number of marriages registrered during 2010, were marriages between Maltese citizens. There were 63 marriages between Maltese and foreigners, divided as follows:  14 between Maltese Catholics and foreign Catholics; 12 between Maltese Catholics and foreign Christians; 8 between Maltese Catholics to non-Christians.  … Read more »

JOHN PAUL II’S BODY TO BE PLACED IN VATICAN BASILICA

John Paul II’s remains will be moved from the Grotto located beneath St. Peter’s Basilica to a chapel in the main Church, the Vatican revealed.

“The transportation of the coffin will take place without exhumation,” reported the semi-official Vatican newspaper L’Osservatore Romano, “hence Pope [John Paul II’s] body will not be exposed.”

The newspaper reported that the body of John Paul II will be “enclosed” and that the placement of his body will be marked “by a simple marble stone engraved with: Beatus Ioannes Paulus II.”
