The Presidents of the Bishops’ Conferences of Europe gathering in Zagreb, Croatia, for the 40th General Assembly of the Council of the European Bishops’ Conferences (CCEE), discussed the issue of demography and family. A survey carried out via the Bishops’ Conferences of 47 Countries confirms a downward population trend. This is certainly the result of family policies in each Nation, but such observation does not appear sufficient to explain the sharp and generalised fall in birth rates described as a demographic winter… Read more »

Volunteer’s Night: Homecoming 2010

On Friday October 8th, Archbishop Paul Cremona will be welcoming back the hundreds of young volunteers who spent their summer holidays with the underprivildged. The volunteers took part in projects in Malta and in other countries as distant as Ethiopia, India and Peru, freely committing themselves to marginalised communities and individuals.

POPE TO PRAY FOR CATHOLIC UNIVERSITIES

Benedict XVI will be praying in October for Catholic universities, particularly that they might become places where people find a faith-reason unity.

The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for October. His general prayer intention is: “That Catholic universities may increasingly become places where, in light of the Gospel, people may experience the unity of faith and reason.”
