POPE’S TRIP TO GERMANY IN 2011 CONFIRMED

Benedict XVI’s trip to Germany next September was officially confirmed by Archbishop Robert Zollitsch, archbishop of Freiburg im Breisgau.

VATICAN URGES PRUDENCE TO WIKILEAKS READERS

In response to the Wikileaks publication of several confidential and secret communications of the U.S. State Department, the Vatican is urging prudence in the evaluation of these documents.

The Wikileaks Web site obtained 251,287 confidential cables containing communications between 274 U.S. embassies throughout the world and the State Department over the years 1966-2010.

200,000 FOLLOW WORLD YOUTH DAY ON FACEBOOK

Organizers of the 2011 World Youth Day (WYD) in Madrid are using many means, including social networking sites like Facebook, to draw participants to the event. RTK’S CHRISTMAS CAMPAIGN IN AID ON FAMILIES IN NEED

RTK radio is once again organizing it’s Christmas Campaign in aid of families in need and refugee children presently residing in Malta.

ORDER DONATES 8 MILLION EURO TO THE HOLY LAND

During this past year, members of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem sent almost €8 million ($10.7 million) in donations to the Holy Land.

Cardinal John Foley, grand master of the order, reported this Saturday in London at a lieutenancy meeting regarding the projects the organization is supporting.

He noted the commitment of the order “to the continued existence of a Christian presence in the Holy Land, defined as Israel, Jordan, the Palestinian Territories and Cyprus.”

Part of this funding went to support Benedict XVI’s visit to Cyprus earlier this year, and another is going to help in the construction of a Latin Catholic church in Aqaba, Jordan… Read more »
