Pope with poor

Lasagna, veal and cake were on the menu Sunday as Pope Benedict XVI invited about 250 poor people to join him for a post-Christmas lunch and denounced as “absurd” new attacks on the faithful around the globe. Pope's blessing Urbi et Orbi

Pope Benedict called for Israelis and Palestinians “to strive for a just and peaceful co-existence” Pope Benedict XVI has expressed his hope for an end to conflicts around the world, in his traditional Christmas Day message from the Vatican. On Wednesday, 22nd December 2010, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. exchanged Christmas greetings with all Curia employees and collaborators. In his message, Mgr. Cremona spoke about the importance of keeping mankind at the centre of all pastoral and administrative work carried out by all those who work in Church entities.

Benedict XVI is urging the state support of families so that they can better fulfill their mission to pass on values to children and young people.

The Pope made this appeal Thursday upon receiving in audience Miquel Àngel Canturri Montanya, the new ambassador from Andorra to the Holy See.
