The relativization of the Bible, which denies the value of Word of God, constitutes a genuine crisis that is both external and internal to the Church, says Cardinal Marc Ouellet. The prefect of the Congregation for Bishops, who served as relator of the 2008 Synod of Bishops on the Word of God, stated this Monday in the opening address of a congress on “Sacred Scripture in the Church.”

As part of the MARRIAGEWEEK activities organised this week (7th-13th February 2011), a conference on ‘The Family in Europe Today’, was organised on Monday 7th February, by ProgettImpenn at the Phoenicia Ballroom, Floriana. On Saturday, 6th February 2011, the Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. celebrated Mass at Marsascala, for the official opening of his Pastoral Visit in this parish.
The number of parishioners in Marsascala is around 9,300 gathered in 3,500 families.

Benedict XVI is encouraging those who work in health care to build a culture of life based on ethical values. The Pope stated this Sunday in an address before praying the midday Angelus. He referred to the upcoming World Day of the Sick, which will be celebrated on Friday, the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. On Friday 4th February 2011, a Press Conference was held, during which the programme of activities for Marriage Week (7th – 13th February) was announced.
Marriage Week was held for the first time in Malta in 2010. That year, the activities consisted primarily of two National Conferences, one on 6th February and the other on the 13th. The main speakers during the first conference were the Prime Minister and Mrs Gonzi, and the Leader of the Opposition and Mrs Muscat, who shared their views on the definition of ‘healthy marriage’ and what action could be taken to further strengthen marriages in our country. … Read more »
The Vatican will host international scientists at a conference on AIDS in late May, an encounter church officials hope will help clarify Pope Benedict XVI’s recent comments on condom use in AIDS prevention, a Vatican official said. On Tuesday, 1st February 2011, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. held a meeting with around 90 specialists, doctors and nurses who work at the Intensive Care Unit at Mater Dei Hospital. During this meeting they discussed several topics related to treatment being received by patients who are seriously ill and facing near death.
