Maltese Youth leave for WYD in Madrid

On Wednesday 10th August, 2011, young people from Malta and Gozo started their journey to Madrid, Spain, where they will be taking part in World Youth Day between the 15th and 21st of August. The international event is a celebration of culture and christian faith drawing 2 million people from around the world.

HOLY SEE REMINDS UN OF PARENTS’ RIGHT TO TEACH SEXUALITY

U.N. policies on youth should respect parents’ right to educate their children, including in the realm of human sexuality and “reproductive health,” says the Holy See.

Archbishop Francis Chullikatt, the permanent observer of the Holy See at the United Nations, affirmed this today when he addressed the U.N. high-level meeting on youth.

WYD FOCUSES ON THE NEEDS OF THE FAMILY AND YOUTH

HELPING THE FAMILY OF ASHIH TEKLEAB HAILE

The refugee section within the Emigrants’ Commission of the Church in Malta shall be passing on €2,000 to Selemawit Hagu Belay, widow of Ashih Tekleab Haile, who died on July 20, whilst saving another man from drowning. The sum is the difference between the money collected and the expenses involved in the transfer of Ashih Tekleab Haile’s body to Eritrea, which amounted to €4,690… Read more »
