22 OBLATES TO BE BEATIFIED IN MADRID

Oblates

Twenty-two Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate will be beatified in Madrid this December. They lost their lives in 1936 during the Spanish Civil War.

The Oblates carried out their ministry as chaplains to three communities of nuns and collaborated in the neighborhood parishes.

155 PEOPLE GRADUATE FROM THE PASTORAL FORMATION INSTITUTE

The Institute of Pastoral Formation of the Church in Malta has recently organized the annual graduation ceremony for 155 students who have successfully completed nine different courses held throughout the recent academic year. This ceremony was presided over by the Archbishop, Paul Cremona OP and was held at the Archbishop’s Seminary on Tuesday 8th November.  The courses were the following:

  • General Education Award in Evangelisation (MQC level 4)
  • A Short Introduction to the Liturgy (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Catholic Social Teaching (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Natural Family Planning (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Christian Leadership II (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Christian Leadership III (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Theology (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Adolescent and Youth Ministry (MQC level 5)
  • Higher Education Award in Catholic Religious Education (MQC level 7)

For the first time ever, these courses were certified by the Malta Qualifications Council.  … Read more »

CIVIL WAR THREATENING THE SUDANS, WARNS BISHOPS

Sudan violence

Violence is spreading in Sudan and the newly formed South Sudan, such that a civil war is threatening if the international community doesn’t intervene, according to the countries’ bishops.

The Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference, which serves Sudan and the world’s newest country, South Sudan, released a communiqué Oct. 28 titled “The Church God Wants Us to Be.”

As reported by Aid to the Church in Need, the statement speaks of spreading violence in Blue Nile State, South Kordofan and Eastern Equatoria, as well as ongoing violence in Darfur… Read more »

On Friday 4th November, 2011 Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. participated in an Inter-religious meeting Praying and Singing for Peace, at St John’s CoCathedral, Valletta.
