News from the Church in Malta
On Saturday 7th January 2012, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. met the Catechetical Commission of the parish of St. Joseph the Worker, Birkirkara as part of his pastoral visit to the parish. Later on, the Archbishop met the Diaconia Commission of the same parish.

Pope Benedict XVI baptises one of 16 newborns during a solemn mass in the Sistine Chapel at the Vatican January 8, 2012.

On Thursday, 5thJanuary 2012, the Interdiocesan Liturgical Commission invited directors, choir members and all those who offer a service in liturgical singing to the launching of the first book out of three which feature Responsorial Psalms that are prayed during the Sunday Mass throughout the year. As from today, Tuesday 10th January 2012, parish priests hailing from the 70 parishes in Malta, are attending a three-day Live in, together with Archbishop Paul Cremona OP. The theme chosen for this year’s Live-in is “The Maltese Diaspora and the Church’s role as a beacon”.

January Pope's prayer intentions
Benedict XVI will be praying this month for the victims of natural disasters.
The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for January.
His general intention is “that the victims of natural disasters may receive the spiritual and material comfort they need to rebuild their lives.”
The Pontiff’s mission intention is focused on peace: “That the dedication of Christians to peace may bear witness to the name of Christ before all men and women of good will.”
