ANNIVERSARY OF THE EPISCOPAL ORDINATION OF ARCHBISHOP PAUL CREMONA

On the occasion of the fifth anniversary of his Episcopal Ordination, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. will be celebrating a Thanksgiving Mass at St. John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, on Sunday 22nd January 2012, at 5:30 p.m. Priests are invited to concelebrate and everyone is invited to attend.

COSTA CONCORDIA TRAGEDY:A CHRISTIAN APPROACH

Search and rescue efforts are still under way as 21 passengers from the Costa Concordia cruise ship remain unaccounted for, after the giant vessel hit rock and began sinking Friday off the Tuscan island of Giglio, Italy.

ARCHBISHOP MEETS VARIOUS COMMISSIONS OF BIRKIRKARA PARISH


On Monday 16th January 2012, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. met the Family and Leading Couples Commission of St Joseph the Worker Parish in Birkirkara. Later on, the Archbishop met the Evangelisation Commission of the parish, the Youth and Adolescent Commission and the youth of the same parish.

WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY BEGINS

The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins today 18 January, under the theme “We will all be changed by the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ”. ECUMENICAL SERVICE – WEEK OF PRAYER FOR CHRISTIAN UNITY 2012

The annual Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is being celebrated from Wednesday 18th to Wednesday 25th January. A National Ecumenical Service is being held on Thursday 19th January at 6.30 p.m., at St Paul’s Anglican Pro-Cathedral, Valletta.

The Service will be led by the Chancellor of St Paul’s Pro-Cathedral, Canon Simon Godfrey. Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. will deliver a reflection on this year’s theme, “We will all be changed by the victory of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Cor 15:51-58)… Read more »

PREPARATIONS INTENSIFY FOR WORLD MEETING OF FAMILIES

With some 140 days remaining before the 7th World Meeting of Families, which will include the participation of Benedict XVI in Milan, the preparations are intensifying.

A symposium to prepare for the May 30 to June 3 meeting was held this week at the Pontifical Lateran University.

The symposium, fruit of synergy between the John Paul II Pontifical Institute for Marriage and the Family and the Pontifical Pastoral Institute Redemptor Hominis of the same athenaeum, was titled “Such a Family for Such a Society.”

MASS FOR COUPLES WHO MARRIED IN 2011

On Saturday 14th January 2012, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. celebrated mass at St John’s Co-Cathedral, Valletta, for those couples who got married during 2011.

In his homily, Archbishop Cremona referred to Christian marriage as a vocation. He highlighted the importance of distinguishing between a wedding and Christian marriage. The Archbishop explained that the wedding lasts only for a day, whereas Christian marriage lasts a lifetime.  … Read more »

1,520 CHURCH MARRIAGES IN 2011

The number of Church marriages registered in the Archdiocese of Malta during the year 2011 was 1,520.

1,315 of the total number of marriages registered during 2011, were marriages between Maltese citizens. There were 66 marriages between Maltese and foreigners, divided as follows:  31 between Maltese Catholics and foreign Catholics; 23 between Maltese Catholics and foreign Christians; 12 between Maltese Catholics to non-Christians.  … Read more »
