Bishops from countries where Christians are particularly persecuted are joining their brothers in the episcopate from the UK for an event at Westminster Cathedral to make an international call for religious freedom.

Pope meeting five new ambassadors

Benedict XVI spoke with five new non-resident ambassadors to the Holy See, including Malaysia’s first ambassador. The Pope touched on a variety of points, ranging from poverty, to human development, to religious freedom.

The ambassadors were from Ethiopia; Ireland; Fiji; Armenia; and Malaysia.

POPE’S PRAYER IN MAY: FOR DEFENSE OF THE FAMILY

Pope praying intentions during May

Benedict XVI is praying this month for the defense and promotion of the family.

The Apostleship of Prayer announced the intentions chosen by the Pope for May.

His general intention is “that initiatives which defend and uphold the role of the family may be promoted within society.”

And the Pontiff’s mission intention is “that Mary, Queen of the World and Star of Evangelization, may accompany all missionaries in proclaiming her Son Jesus.”

ARCHBISHOP CELEBRATES MASS IN THE TAL-HAWLI ZONE

On Thursday 26th April 2012, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. celebrated Mass in the Tal-Hawli Zone and afterwards met with the people. Later on, the Archbishop met the De La Salle Brothers in Vittoriosa and dined with them.
