For the second consecutive year, the Literacy Team in collaboration with ‘Let me Learn and Writing Programme within the Secretariat for Catholic Education are organizing a Literacy Week for Church Schools children, entitled “Fairies tell Tales”. The activities are being held at The Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta, and at the Lower Barrakka. Over 1000 students will be participating.

Boston's tragedy

Pope Francis, through Cardinal Secretary of State Tarcisio Bertone, S.D.B., has sent a telegram to Cardinal Sean O’Malley, O.F.M. Cap, archbishop of Boston, Massachusetts, USA in response to the attack that took place in that city during its annual marathon causing three deaths and leaving over 100 wounded.

Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI

This morning, on the occasion of the birthday of Pope emeritus Benedict XVI, the Holy Father Francis began the celebration of Mass in the chapel of the Domus Sanctae Marthae, inviting all those present to pray with these words: “Today is Benedict XVI’s birthday. Friday morning, the Holy Father received the members of the Pontifical Biblical Commission with their president, Archbishop Gerhard Ludwig Muller, prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, at the conclusion of their annual plenary assembly, which had the theme of “Inspiration and Truth in the Bible”.

In his address to them, the Pope emphasized that this theme “affects not only the individual believer but the whole Church, for the Church’s life and mission are founded on the Word of God, which is the soul of theology as well as the inspiration of all of Christian existence.”
