The Council of European Bishops’ Conferences has sent a letter signed by the Presidents of Bishops’ Conferences from the entire continent members of CCEE to the United Nations Security Council.
In it the bishops call on the international community to take urgent “decisions to put an end to the atrocious actions against Christians and other religious minorities in Iraq”…
Pope Francis has sent a video message to the people of Korea, broadcast on Korean television over the weekend and ahead of his Apostolic journey to Korea.
In the message, the Holy Father begins by inviting the Korean people to pray with him that his upcoming visit will bear fruit for the Church and for Korean society in general…
The Archdiocese of Malta wishes to invite Christians to attend an activity which will consist of prayer for peace in the world and for Christians who are being persecuted in various countries. Following an appeal for prayer, Archbishop Paul Cremona O.P. and Auxiliary Bishop Charles J. Scicluna have expressed their desire for Christians to unite in prayer with Pope Francis, who is continually appealing for peace in various countries which are facing wars and conflicts, and for those communities of Christians which are suffering from violence because of their faith…
Pope Francis renewed his call for prayer and concrete assistance for the suffering populations of Iraq this Sunday. Addressing the crowd gathered in St Peter’s Square for the traditional Angelusprayer, the Holy Father also offered prayerful appeals for an end to the fighting between Israeli forces and Hamas militants in Gaza, and for the victims of the Ebola outbreak and for all those fighting to stop it…
